Moving abroad

Notify us if you move abroad or if you are planning to stay abroad for at least 8 months. You can do this no earlier than 5 days in advance by making an appointment and coming to the City Hall. After informing us of your relocation, you will receive a proof of deregistration.

What you need to know
- Are you emigrating and will family members be staying behind at your address? If so, everyone that is leaving must come along to the public hall, including minors
- Are all your family members emigrating with you? In that case, you can only pass on the emigration of family members registered at your address
- Family members are your spouse, registered partner, child or parent, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers or sisters
- If you report your emigration after you have moved, we will use the date of your notification as the departure date
Notifying us in writing
Only if all family members move abroad with you, you can notify us in writing of your relocation. We will send the proof of deregistration to your new address.
To notify us in writing, please send us a letter and attach a copy of your passport, ID-card or driving licence. The letter must include the following information:
- Your name and the names of any family members that move
- The country you move to
- Your new address
- Date of departure to the new address
- Your signature

If you notify us after you have moved abroad, we will use the day we received your letter as the departure date.
